Publication Ethics
The Journal of Midwifery (JOM) upholds the COPE Core Practices and the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing. This landing page summarizes our policies and provides links to detailed guidance hosted on our site.
If you have a concern about research integrity or publication ethics, contact the Managing Editor at [insert ethics contact email].
1) Allegations of Misconduct
We investigate credible allegations (fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, image manipulation, unethical research, undisclosed conflicts) promptly and fairly, following COPE flowcharts. Possible outcomes include correction, expression of concern, or retraction.

2) Authorship and Contributorship
Authorship requires substantial contributions, approval of the final version, and accountability. We use CRediT contributorship statements. Authorship changes post-submission need written consent from all authors with justification. Ghost/guest/gift authorship is prohibited.
Full policy: https://jom.fk.unand.ac.id/index.php/jom/authorship-contributorship
3) Complaints and Appeals
Authors and readers may appeal editorial decisions or lodge complaints about process. Appeals are handled by a senior editor not involved in the original decision; confidential, impartial, and within stated timelines.
Full policy: https://jom.fk.unand.ac.id/index.php/jom/complaints-appeals
4) Conflicts of Interest / Competing Interests
Authors, editors, and reviewers must declare all financial and non-financial interests that could influence the work. Declarations appear on the article; conflicted editors/reviewers recuse themselves.
Full policy: https://jom.fk.unand.ac.id/index.php/jom/conflicts-of-interest
5) Data and Reproducibility
A Data Availability Statement is required for research articles. Data, code, and materials should be shared in trusted repositories when lawful and ethical; sensitive/clinical data must be de-identified or placed under controlled access. Reporting guidelines and preregistration are encouraged.
Full policy: https://jom.fk.unand.ac.id/index.php/jom/data-reproducibility
6) Ethical Oversight
Human research must state ethics committee approval and informed consent; clinical trials should be prospectively registered. Animal research must follow recognized welfare standards. Special cases (vulnerable groups, identifiable images) require explicit consent and justification.

7) Intellectual Property
Authors retain copyright unless otherwise stated; licenses are shown on each article page. Authors must secure permissions for third-party content. We screen for plagiarism and image manipulation and act on infringements.

8) Journal Management
Editorial independence is safeguarded; decisions are based on scholarly merit and policy compliance. Roles and responsibilities are defined, conflicts are managed, and processes are documented and periodically reviewed.
Full policy: https://jom.fk.unand.ac.id/index.php/jom/journal-management
9) Peer Review Processes
JOM operates double-blind peer review unless stated otherwise on the article. Typically, at least two independent reviewers are assigned. Reviews must be objective, timely, and confidential. Integrity checks (plagiarism, image screening) may occur pre- and post-review.
Full policy: https://jom.fk.unand.ac.id/index.php/jom/peer-review
10) Post-Publication Discussions and Corrections
We welcome responsible post-publication dialogue. When the scholarly record requires amendment, we issue corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern with clear rationales and bi-directional links.
Full policy: https://jom.fk.unand.ac.id/index.php/jom/post-publication
11) AI Tools Usage Policy
AI tools cannot be authors and cannot take responsibility for content. Permitted uses (with disclosure) include language editing, code refactoring, and generating schematic figures that do not create or alter findings. Prohibited uses include fabricating or altering data, images, patient information, or references; undisclosed AI-generated text; uploading confidential manuscripts to third-party tools. Authors must disclose tool names, versions/dates, and human verification steps. Editors/reviewers must not share confidential material with external AI services without explicit permission and safeguards. Violations may lead to rejection, correction, or retraction.

12) Archiving Policy
JOM participates in long-term digital preservation to ensure enduring access to published content. The ISSN Portal record for Journal of Midwifery (ISSN 2598-3180) indicates preservation through Portico and PKP PN: https://portal.issn.org/resource/ISSN/2598-3180
In case of platform failure or discontinuation, preserved content remains accessible via these services. We also maintain regular on-site and off-site backups of content and metadata.

13) Repository (Self-Archiving) Policy
Authors may deposit the preprint (submitted version), the Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM), and the Version of Record (VoR) where permitted by the article’s license. Deposits may be made in institutional, funder, or reputable subject repositories and preprint servers. No embargo applies to open-access articles. Always include the citation, DOI, and a link to the Version of Record on the journal site; deposited copies must honor the article’s license terms.
